And although it may not be threatening your desktop or making headlines currently, Bagle is perhaps the most significant new virus to emerge within the last few years, with its authors manipulating its base code to include new and ever more dangerous payloads.

If you haven't kept your security patches up to date, the resuscitating spyware and adware may be the result of an Internet worm that reinfects your computer each time you access the Internet. But that may be the least of your worries. That same malicious code may also be tracking your keystrokes or perusing your AutoComplete entries and sending the list to remote attackers. And if you don't think it will happen to you, think again. Those who are most complacent about their security posture are those most at risk.
