TypedArray.org | JavaScript for interactive developers

by sbrothier
A few years ago, I wrote a little ActionScript 3 library called MicRecorder, which allowed you to record the microphone input and export it to a .WAV file. Very simple, but pretty handy. The other day I thought it would be cool to port it to JavaScript. I realized quickly that it is not as easy. In Flash, the SampleDataEvent directly provides the byte stream  PCM samples) from the microphone. With getUserMedia, the Web Audio APIs are required to extract the samples. Note that getUserMedia and Web Audio are not broadly supported yet, but it is coming. Firefox has also landed Web Audio recently, which is great news.

All this is done in HTML5 by the way.

This project uses the new HTML5 Audio Data API. At the moment, only Firefox 4 beta supports this. Click the visualization area to toggle "fullscreen" mode.

timesheets.js

by Monique

The goal of this project is to rely on declarative W3C standards (namely, SMIL Timing and SMIL Timesheets) to synchronize HTML content. These demos rely purely on our Timesheet Scheduler: 100% declarative and standard-based, no specific JavaScript code is used.

IE9 & HTML5

by Monique

IE9 is definitely better than IE8 and a step in the right direction, but I don't believe it to be a truly modern browser, and let me tell you why.

"The current (Nov, 2009) HTML5 draft defines quite a precise algorithm, for producing an outline for HTML documents. h5o is an implementation of the algorithm in JavaScript."

Firefox esseulé face au H.264

by srcmax

Firefox: 46 features you might not know about ✩ Mozilla Hacks – the Web developer blog

by Spone
Ever since the release of Firefox 3 we’ve been doing a lot of work to add new capabilities for web developers. We thought it would be worth it to make a post that actually listed all of the features that we knew about and people might not know about. This contains everything that we’ve done over the last three releases or so, but calls out stuff that’s new in 3.6.

by srcmax (via)
