Photo Mechanic - Professional Digital Photo Workflow Software

by sbrothier
Overview Photo Mechanic takes the work out of workflow! Photo Mechanic sets out to be the most useful Photo Workflow Software on the market today. It does this by being logical in operation, intuitive in use and, most importantly of all, performing its functions as quickly as possible. Photo Mechanic is able to perform most of the needed tasks in a Digital Asset Management (DAM) workflow. Such as; downloading, renaming, backing up, rating, grouping, optimizing, maintaining, thinning, and exporting files. Custom sorting methods are available for your particular workflow. Multithreaded software works in the background to keep ahead of you, so images appear blazingly fast. You can view your originals full screen, compare similar shots side by side, delete the bad shots, tag photos while watching a slide show, and sort your keepers into multiple folders. Photo Mechanic’s power lies in its flexibility and each user will no doubt use Photo Mechanic in subtly different ways to fit into their own unique workflow needs.

Lessons Learned Shooting with the Canon 5D Mark II :: digitalartwork – Multimedia Journalism

by sbrothier
For the Michael Jackson Memorial piece I worked on, we decided before I left for L.A. that we would use the Canon 5D Mark II to try and push the look of the piece, and to try something new. The first thing I did, is call up a freelancer, Patrick Burke, to run sound. Patrick used to be an AC (Assistant Camera) in L.A. so he came with all the right tools, including a film slate that we used to sync audio from a Marantz PMD660 to the video footage of the 5D.

yellowBird Video Platform Puts You In the Middle, But Can It Tell a Story? - Jawbone.tv - The Evolution of Story.

by sbrothier
Interactive video has a long way to go, but Netherlands based yellowBird and their 360 degree offering might help move it along. We, as a species, watch a lot of vids. Buckets full, really. And for the most part, we're comfortable pressing play and being spoon-fed the story. This, at least in part, explains the lukewarm reception - commercially speaking - of interactive films. Most of the 'interactivity' centers on controlling the story.

Fraser Speirs – On the Flickr support in iPhoto ‘09

by sbrothier (via)
As you may know, Apple added Flickr uploading to iPhoto ‘09. As you may guess, I was a little perturbed at this since I pay my mortgage by selling, er, a Flickr upload plugin for iPhoto. I acquired my copy of iLife ‘09 yesterday and decided to dive deep on how Apple have implemented Flickr integration in iPhoto ‘09. Here are the results of my investigation. Be aware as you read that this is the result of a morning’s click-around investigation and not months of serious use. I will do my best to give an honest assessment of what is in iPhoto ‘09, and you’ve already read my full disclosure in the previous paragraph.
