2005 Year-End Zeitgeist
by 12 others (via)It turns out that looking at the aggregation of billions of search queries people type into Google reveals something about our curiosity, our thirst for news, and perhaps even our desires. Considering all that has occurred in 2005, we thought it would be interesting to study just a few of the significant events, and names that make this a memorable year. (We’ll leave it to the historians to determine which ones are lasting and which ephemeral.) We hope you enjoy this selective view of our collective year.

Protecting the Presidential Seal. No Joke.
(via)You might have thought that the White House had enough on its plate late last month, what with its search for a new Supreme Court nominee, the continuing war in Iraq and the C.I.A. leak investigation. But it found time to add another item to its agenda - stopping The Onion, the satirical newspaper, from using the presidential seal.

Search Your Flickr Photos From a Live Bookmark (in Firefox, of course)
by 1 otherPart of what is wonderful about Flickr is the ability to tag pictures with keywords and then search across these keywords. If you're using Firefox (you should be), you can save time by running a search across your own photos without having to load your Flickr homepage and then click through to your own photostream.
